How to adjust the gather rate so that the curtain falls correctly?
For a regular drape, the width of the fabric must be greater than that of the rod. A specialist guide advises using a coefficient of approximately 2 times the width of the rod for a classic curtain and 2.5 times for a curtain. Before hanging the curtain, tie the cords on one side of the braid, pull them on the other side until you get the desired width, distribute the folds evenly and insert the hooks into the pockets of the ribbon every 8–10 cm. This method guarantees regular gathers and a harmonious drape.
Do gathers change the opacity of a blackout or lined curtain?
No. The gathers do not alter the density of the fabric: they serve to distribute the fabric and adjust the width, but the material retains its properties. For example, a 100% blackout gathered tape curtain still blocks all light and provides thermal insulation, even after being pleated. A lined curtain will therefore remain darkening; only the texture and aesthetics change.
Can I be advised on choosing the right amount of gathers and the right material?
Yes. Madura offers a free decorating advice service, called Madura@home, which allows you to make an appointment with an expert to guide you in choosing your curtains, rods and accessories. The expert will be able to determine the ideal gathering coefficient according to the desired effect and the nature of the fabric (sheer, blackout, thermal) depending on the room and your decoration style.
Are Madura ruffles visible once the curtain is installed?
No. The ruffle tape is hidden behind the curtain and is not visible after installation. This finish is “almost invisible” and highlights the material without disturbing the aesthetics of the decoration.. Hooks inserted into the ribbon pockets attach to the rings or rail, completely hiding the gathering strip for a neat finish.
Are curtains with gathered braid suitable for very bright rooms or large bay windows?
Yes. Curtains with gathered braid are available in different widths to dress standard windows or large bay windows. They are available in subduing versions, which filter the light and diffuse it gently for bright rooms, and in blackout versions, which block the light and insulate for bedrooms or south-facing exposures. Thanks to the adjustable gathering system, you can modulate the width of the fabric to evenly cover a large opening while controlling the entry of light.
