How to choose your curtain rod?

Comment choisir sa tringle à rideaux ?

The curtain rod is the essential accessory for installing your curtains, linings and curtains. To choose the right size curtain rod, the crucial step is measuring: to your meters!

What length of curtain rod choose?

For a curtain rod attached to the wall or ceiling

For optimal results, the curtain rod must be placed between 10 cm and 15 cm above the window. It can also be placed on the ceiling, if you have a roller shutter box above the window for example.

On the wall or ceiling, we generally place the curtain rod on two supports fixed at each end of the window, about ten centimeters from the window jamb in order to facilitate its opening. We will then leave the curtain rod protrude 20 cm from each side of the supports. To choose wisely the length of its curtain rod, we therefore measure the width of our window, to which we add approximately 60 cm.

For a curtain rod fixed between two walls

It is also possible to set a curtain rod between two walls or in a one-sided recess using the “birth” rod supports. The length of the curtain rod will then correspond to the spacing of the two walls.

If the curtain rod is fixed in a recess by a birth support at one of its ends and by a wall support at the other end, it is also recommended to fix the wall support a few cm from the window jamb, then to extend the curtain rod 20 cm from this same support.

Madura curtain rods

Curtain rods Madura are available in 4 lengths: 150 cm, 180 cm, 200 cm, 250 cm. Good news, they are sawable and can be assembled endlessly using connectors and supports. It is therefore entirely possible to adjust the size of your curtain rod to the width of its window and create long length curtain rods. Impossible not to find the right size curtain rod!

What length of support to choose?

Madura supports are available in three lengths: 4 cm, 8 cm and 12 cm. Depending on the desired result and the attachment location, choose a suitable length.

For a curtain rod attached to the wall

If you opt to attach brackets to the wall, the choice of their length will depend on the distance you want to obtain between the window and the curtain.

To avoid hindering the movement of eyelet curtains with a deep fold, opt for a 12 cm support. To properly darken a room, consider the short 8 cm support: by being closer to the window, the curtain will let in less light. If there is a radiator below the window, as a precaution, turn to a 12 cm support.

Finally, the heavier your curtains are, the more you will need to opt for short supports to guarantee good fixation.

For a curtain rod attached to the ceiling

4cm brackets are mainly used for ceiling mounting. However, if you wish hang a curtain rod on the ceiling In order to hang eyelet curtains, it is preferable to opt for 8 cm brackets to make it easier to open the curtains. In fact, the eyelets will protrude 3 to 4 cm above the curtain rod
