Can you install eyelet curtains on a bay window?
Yes, eyelet curtains are very suitable for bay windows and sliding windows. A specialist guide explains that curtains with eyelets or flat pleats adapt perfectly to sliding systems and that you only need to choose eyelets large enough for the curtain to slide smoothly on a long rod. At Madura, eyelet curtains are available in several sizes and materials (cotton, linen or velvet) and are easily installed using a simple rod. It is therefore entirely possible to dress a bay window with eyelet curtains, provided you use a sufficiently long bar and suitable eyelets.
What length of curtain to choose for an aesthetic result?
For a harmonious result, carefully measure the width and height of the opening. We recommend adding 20 to 30cm on each side of the window so that the curtains can be completely unobstructed. Attach the rod 10 to 15 cm above the window to visually lengthen the room and let the curtain go down to the floor: for a clean drape, stop 1 cm from the floor; for a “broken” or hotel style effect, add 2 to 5 cm so that it rests lightly on the ground.
A measuring guide recalls the same principles: position the bar 10–15 cm above the window, allow 15–25 cm of lateral overhang and add a few centimeters if you want the bottom of the curtain to “break” to the ground.
What is the difference between ready-made curtains and custom-made curtains?
Ready-to-hang curtains are immediately available in stores and offer standard dimensions and varied fabrics at an often moderate cost; they are suitable for classic openings and are quickly installed. Custom curtains are made according to the exact dimensions of the window and can be made from specific textiles with personalized finishes.. A comparison highlights that tailor-made guarantees a perfect adaptation and a wider choice of styles and finishes, but requires a manufacturing time and a higher budget.
Are Madura rods and accessories compatible with all the curtains in your collection?
Compatibility depends on rod diameter and range. For example, the cylindrical ends of the Alma collection only fit Alma rods with Ø 1.9 cm or Ø 2.9 cm and are not suitable for other bars. Likewise, Alma “eyeglass” supports are designed for these same diameters. The single, double or extendable rods offered by Madura can support light curtains as well as heavy curtains, but it is recommended to use reinforced supports and a metal or iron bar for heavy curtains.. In summary, you must check the diameter of your rod and choose ends, supports or rings from the same collection to guarantee compatibility.
